(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 06 - Foreign Minister Luigi DiMaio, on a visit to India, arrived in the capital last night.
After meeting the staff of the Italian Embassy and administrations present in the country, the minister went to the Raj Ghat, the Memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, where he paid homage to the Father of the Indian homeland.
After the meeting with his Indian counterpart Jaishankar, still in progress, Di Maio will see the Minister of Commerce and Industry Goyal, to then participate in a meeting with representatives of Italian and Indian companies.
A press release from the Farnesina underlines that the meeting with Goyal will focus on strengthening bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation, with a specific focus on the sectors of energy transition, connectivity and sustainable mobility.
Dialogue with the top management of Italian and Indian companies,
it will concern already active projects or possible prospective interests in the Indian market;
furthermore, the investment opportunities favored by "Make in India", the ambitious plan of the Indian government which aims to strengthen the national manufacturing sector, opening it up to industrial collaborations with foreign companies, will be examined.
