In Zagarolo, demonstration on Sunday 8th one day in advance. The Municipality dissociates itself: 'Unacceptable' (ANSA)

A party for the victory of the Russians over the Nazis complete with Putin's Z.

It happens near Rome, in Zagarolo, where on the posters wanted by the local PCI for the 'victory party' the Z is graphically enhanced recalling the infamous Russian 'logo' of the invasion of Ukraine.

The Communist Party Monti Tiburtini Casilina packaged the poster of the controversy on the occasion of the event on May 8 in Zagarolo, one day before the date of the Russian victory over the Nazis in '45.

A date that is also indicated by many as chosen by Putin to put an end to the invasion of Ukraine precisely to bring it closer to the 77th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory in World War II.

"I strongly disagree with the choice that was made. It is

unacceptable

to see the Z of the name of my municipality used with reference to the Russian invasion".

The mayor of Zagarolo Emanuela Panzironi says this to ANSA after the publication of the poster.

"I respect the political positions of all, the freedom of expression and also the memory and commemoration of the partisans who died in the Second World War, but I feel disdain for the association and the reference to the capital 'Z' present in the poster of the event" , continues Panzironi.

"Considering the media importance that the initiative has taken, I must also evaluate whether the safety criteria are present, considering the danger of the situation", she adds.

"The organizers themselves,

cancel the event:

maybe they realized the mistake.

In any case, I will decide this afternoon whether to give consent to the event ", concludes Panzironi.
