(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 09 - The 66th edition of the Eurovision SongContest, starting on May 10 in Turin, returns for the third time in Italy with the presence of 40 countries representing 30% of global market revenues: and Italy returned to the top of the most important markets globally with a 27.8% growth to over 332 million euros in revenues.

The performance is photographed by the Global Music Report - State of the Industry by Ifpi, the international federation of the phonographic industry, which was translated into Italian for the occasion.


    The revenues from subscriptions to streaming platforms have dragged the Italian market into tenth position: the premium segment grew by 35.6%, together with the video streaming area supported by advertising with + 46.3%.


   Overall, the entire segment between audio and video streaming grew by 24.6% reaching 208 million in revenues.


   On the other hand, in the audio segment, Italian consumers now realize on average over a billion streams every week, with an average of over 19 hours a week dedicated to listening to music (IFPI Engaging with Music data), of which 45% via premium subscription, one percentage that rises to 57% between 16 and 24 years.

Even the cd has returned to generate increasing revenues with a + 10.6% and vinyl continues its constant growth with an increase of almost 79%.

Revenues from other formats such as cassette tapes also grew, up by 245%.

Related rights (revenues from licenses for the use of music in radio, television, gyms, public establishments and private parties) also grew with + 37.2% to 52 million, and synchronization rights, or music in advertising, movies, tv series, saw an increase of 36,


    In the rankings at the end of the year, the top ten singles and albums were dominated by the Italian repertoire: various artists of the Generation Z achieved far-reaching results, conquering numerous platinum records.


   Overall, 231 Albums, 6 Compilations and 1,054 Digital Singles were awarded in 2021, including gold, platinum and multi-platinum.
