"Elden Ring" is already the game of the year 2022. How realistic is it that a version for Nintendo Switch will appear?
Since its release in February, Elden Ring has quickly become one of the most popular and successful games of recent years.
Despite the high level of difficulty, it has become a phenomenon and gamers are enthusiastically sharing their experiences on social media.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and Xbox One.
That's pretty much all modern gaming platforms except for one: the Nintendo Switch.
Will Elden Ring ever come to the Switch?
After all, there was also a version of "Dark Souls Remastered" from the same developer studio for the hybrid console.
"Elden Ring": Nintendo Switch version unlikely
Unfortunately, it's
highly unlikely
that Nintendo Switch users will be playing Elden Ring any time soon - or ever.
The reason is obvious:
the Nintendo Switch hardware
just isn't powerful enough
.
Although other comparable open-world games such as "Zelda: Breath of the Wild" or the aforementioned "Dark Souls Remastered" are playable, "Elden Ring" is a different number.
The size of the world, the graphics and the special effects are too much for the Switch.
And even "Dark Souls Remastered" was
not a completely successful port of the game
for the Nintendo Switch.
The revised version of "Dark Souls" was released in 2018, the original was released in 2011. Despite this, the switch only managed a throttled frame rate and many players complained that the gameplay was very sluggish.
And when a title released in 2011 is just that playable, there is
little hope for newer, even more demanding games
- let alone "Elden Ring".
The more important question in this regard is whether Nintendo will release a more powerful console soon.
There are currently no official announcements from the company.
