The emergency supply is on everyone's lips.
You don't want to laboriously calculate what you should have at home for 10 days?
Then help is here.
The
Federal Office for Disaster Assistance
and Civil Protection (BBK) has been recommending an emergency supply for a long time, but these days more and more citizens who previously had nothing to do with stockpiling are dealing with it.
In an interview with the Handelsblatt (behind the payment barrier), Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) advises storing
food and drinking water for ten days.
But how much should a family with two children have in the house and how much for a single household?
The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture provides a supply calculator that you can use to calculate your individual needs.
We have put together three common models for you so that you can see at a glance whether your pantry is sufficiently stocked.
We have simply explained to you how to choose the right food here.
Emergency supplies for: 2 adults and 2 children
For emergency supplies, you should buy foods that provide enough calories and nutrients to keep you in the best of health, even in an emergency.
2,200 kcal per person and day is a guide value
that you should stick to.
Ideally, choose foods that are not too specific and that you know well so that you can easily create
varied dishes
from them.

Different water needs for adults, children and seniors
For an
adult
, calculate 1.5 l of water per day and 0.5 l in addition for cooking.
If children
live
in the household, the water requirement for them is estimated at 1 liter per day.
People over 65
, on the other hand, need 2 liters of drinking water.
Adjust the amount of water according to your family circumstances.
However, the 0.5 liters of water for cooking per person remain the same.
So a family of four needs for ten days:
80 liters of water, 14 kg of potatoes, pasta etc., 16 kg of canned vegetables and legumes, 10 kg of canned fruit such as peaches (promotional link), just over 10 liters of UHT milk (promotional link ), 6 kilos of meat, egg in the form of whole egg powder (promotional link) and Co., 1.5 liters of oil (promotional link) and others.
Of course, amounts will vary when small children are part of the family eating and drinking less.

When shopping, stick to the recommended quantities and do not over-buy needlessly.
In this way, you deprive others of the opportunity to prepare for emergencies.
In addition to food, you should also have these medicines and hygiene items at home in the event of a disaster.
