Pay into the pension fund voluntarily?
Mini-jobbers receive full insurance protection for just a few euros a month, as experts explain.
Mini jobs are definitely in demand.
Around six million people in Germany have a
450-euro job
.
What about retirement savings?
What mini-jobbers should know: Since 2013, such jobs have been subject to compulsory insurance in the statutory pension insurance.
The fact that, according to the German Pension Insurance Association, more than 80 percent of mini-jobbers were exempted from compulsory insurance has unfavorable consequences from the point of view of the experts.
This was reported by the German Press Agency (dpa) in April.
"Because for 3.6 percent of the salary, i.e. 16.20 euros at 450 euros, contributors enjoy full insurance protection," as the dpa article says.

Mini job also counts for later pension
The main part of the pension contribution for mini-jobbers is carried by the employer at 15 percent.
The time in the mini-job later flows into the minimum insurance period for a pension.
According to dpa, this applies both to the old-age pension and to a possible disability and survivor's pension.
