According to their own statements, the Dresden police have arrested a seventh suspect who is said to have been involved in the break-in into the Green Vault.
The 22-year-old Jihad R. was arrested on the fringes of the jewel theft trial at the Dresden Regional Court.
He was there as a visitor.
In Dresden there are currently six defendants on trial who are said to be responsible for the burglary.
The men are said to have stolen jewelry worth 113 million euros during the burglary on November 25, 2019.
Investigators are convinced that the crime was committed by criminal members of the Berlin Rammo clan.
The public prosecutor's office in Dresden accuses the arrested man of, among other things, aiding and abetting aggravated gang theft, aiding and abetting particularly serious arson and aiding and abetting arson.
R. is said to have helped the six main suspects in planning and carrying out the crime.
apartment searched
After the arrest, investigators searched the vehicle and the suspect's apartment in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
They were supported by the Berlin police.
R. is to be brought before the investigating judge in Dresden on Wednesday.
At the beginning of March, the police published the search for another suspect: At that time, it was said that the person wanted had been in the jewel room for a long time and several times the day before the burglary.
His behavior deviated "conspicuously" from that of an average museum visitor.
The man may have spied on the premises and passed information on to the thieves.
It is not known whether Jihad R. is the person being sought.
