(ANSA) - MEXICO CITY, MAY 09 - Two Mexican journalists, Yesenia Mollinedo, and Sheila Johana García Oliver, were killed yesterday in the State of Veraruz, bringing to eleven the toll of information workers who violently lost their lives in 2022.
Molinedo, writes the newspaper El Financiero, was director of the portal 'El Veraz a Veracruz', while Garcia was one of the editors.
According to an initial police report, the two women were repeatedly hit with bullets in the municipality of Cosoleacaque in circumstances not yet fully understood.
Verónica Hernández Giadáns, Prosecutor General of Veracruz, assured that there will be no impunity in the case and that the investigation will follow every hypothesis to clarify the incident, and verify the relationship of the deaths with the journalistic activity.
The murders, the newspaper recalls, took place a few hours after a protest took place in the city center against the wave of violence that caused the deaths of eleven journalists at the beginning of the year.
