Take off their shirt: Maron 5 managed to bring soul and sincerity to Hayarkon Park Israel today

The pop-rock band, which always knew how to stay relevant and align with the mainstream, performed its hits one after the other at a pace that dizzyed even the band members themselves - and so did the Israeli audience.

There are very few artists or musical ensembles that can fill the Yarkon Park, about 60,000 people are allowed to frequent it in one evening, not to mention two evenings in a row.

It's not really a secret among the country's producers of productions that in order to fill the park and produce the bird's eye view that shows it every full summer, they usually have to bring in a veteran artist the size of Paul McCartney, Ganz n 'Roses or Kevin and Adam Lambert;

Or alternatively - import the world's greatest pop artist right now - say Sia in 2016 or Justin Bieber in 2017.

But to bring to the country the essentially poppy composition that has existed on paper (even if under a different name initially) for 28 years, and actually broke out in 2004 - that is, almost two decades ago, and managed to generate so much interest around it?

This is already a complete anomaly.

But this is exactly the case during Maroon 5's first visit to our districts, which opened last night (Monday) with the band's first performance out of two.

Some will be quick to attribute this to a return to routine and the fact that this is the first park appearance in Israel in quite some time - and they will not be completely wrong.

But the writer of these lines prefers to see this as proof of the versatility, the adaptability and, also, the considerable talent for producing hits, of this veteran American band.

In other words - the band that broke out at the beginning of the millennium with the funky "This Love" (which emerged with the start of the show as the second song of the evening), managed to change and adapt to the fashions, sound and character of ever-changing pop culture. , Which developed an evening saturated with hits in high doses.

These are fired at the audience one by one, with very little breathing time between them.

The bird's flight on the Yarkon Park with the appearance of Maron 5,

Adam Levin managed to hold on for quite some time before exposing his body adorned with tattoos, and at least for the first part of the evening it seemed that even he had a hard time keeping up with the series of hits he and his bandmates (quite anonymous, it should be noted. Levin carries the show alone on his back) perform in a chain.

"Stereo Hearts" alternates with "One More Night", and from there a direct transition to "Animals".

"Love Somebody" may sound like a big anthem to Levin, but the audience in the country is less excited about it.

He's more than happy to accompany "Makes Me Wonder", a hit from the era when she was influenced by Maroon 5 by Stevie Wonder and Prince.

Levin is not a huge singer and he is not endowed with what is commonly called "lungs".

He does not have a great voice, even the opposite, and this is especially evident in the songs to which he and his friends insist on giving more rockish arrangements.

But precisely in the Caribbean groove moments or in those where the solo element is prominent in their work, it seems to feel more comfortable.

And there are quite a few of these.

"I can not even explain to you how enthusiastic we are tonight. Look and see how many people," he addresses the audience for the first time at 21:55, 40 minutes into a performance.

"We have not been to Tel Aviv before, the energy here is amazing and we feel very welcome here," he says, and you can definitely see that the singer is almost amazed at the amount of audience that came to see him yesterday.

From here it will continue to a quiet acoustic rendition of the usually carnival "Payphone", and another calm adaptation of the old "Won't Go Home", a song that Levin himself is quite surprised by the warm way he was received by the audience in Zion, before he also moves to - "Beautiful Mistakes" and "Don't Wanna Know".

Everyone, even if not performed to perfection, gives the impression that the group on stage really enjoys performing in front of such a large audience, and for the weight of "happy in the studio - happy at home", the uplifting mood on stage is especially contagious and felt even among those standing on the grass.

As soon as Cinderella warms her heart, the singer brings Coral Bismuth, the musician he brought to his story, to the stage when he heard her by chance from the balcony of the hotel room, while playing on the promenade by the sea in Tel Aviv.

"She played for hours, and usually things like that get annoying at some point," the singer says of the encounter between him and the world-famous singer, if only because of the moment he shared the Instagram story of one of the world's most successful singers.

"But it was beautiful and I didn't want her to stop. Then she started playing our 'Sunday Morning' and I said 'Oh, sailing. She's doing a great job at it.'

Bismuth takes the stage and definitely takes advantage of her moment to shine in front of tens of thousands.

She does not let the size of the event affect her and it seems that this already-not-so-anonymous singer, feels particularly comfortable on stage with the composition on the order of Maroon 5.

A one-man band.

The road to the end of the show goes through "Girls Like You".

Levin may not have fully understood the applause he received at times that may have seemed random to him during the song, when he was not sure he was aware of the moments when Gal Gadot appeared on the screens behind him in videos from the song clip, all of which are international models and actresses.

In the encore they quietly perform "Memories" which makes the Yarkon Park really intimate, and the intimacy also continues to "She will Be Loved", which Levin dedicates to all the women who come to watch him take off his shirt tonight (it happened around this point), and there are quite a few of them.

Predictably but quite logically, the eve of Maroon 5's first performance ends with the rhythmic "Sugar", which sends home a happy and satisfied audience.

One that has received a hefty dose of intravenous hits, even if most of them do not carry too many nutritional values.

Ultimately Maroon 5 is a pop band that knows its job well and understands a thing or years of wanting an audience.

For the thousands who came to see her she provided exactly the need for which she was invited to appear here.

And she did so with distinct joy, with great grace, with quite a bit of communication that seemed particularly honest and also, you'd be surprised to hear, with quite a bit of soul.
