(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 10 - The US Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S.

Truman (CVN 75).

The US Navy unit made a stop last April 23 in the port of Trieste.

In Naples, despite a light haze, the ship is clearly visible: many have stopped on the waterfront - at the Castel dell'Ovo - to photograph it.

A group of sailors from Truman, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 28, and Carrier Strike Group (CSG) will participate in a cleaning and maintenance activity of the Campano Amphitheater of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, the second in order of magnitude of the Roman Empire, which was also the scene of Spartacus' exploits.

A US Navy carrier had been missing from Naples for six years.

The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (HSTCSG) is currently in scheduled deployment in

area of operations of the Sixth Fleet in support of maritime security and stability, also with the aim of reassuring Allies and partners in Europe and Africa.
