A man is said to have administered deadly drugs during sexual encounters in Vienna.
The spokeswoman for the Vienna public prosecutor confirmed that the 52-year-old was suspected of double murder and robbery.
The Austrian press agency APA had first reported on the deaths.
Investigators assume that the suspect met two men on a dating platform last year.
To increase their pleasure, he injected them with excessive amounts of liquid ecstasy.
He had accepted the death of the men - according to the prosecutor at least with conditional intent - approvingly.
The drug is used, among other things, for so-called chemsex, i.e. sex under the influence of synthetic substances.
Investigations after the second death
The first death occurred a year ago in the 52-year-old's apartment.
At that time, the police still assumed a drug-related death without a criminal background.
The investigation started when the suspect reported to the police at the end of October that there was another dead person in his apartment.
According to prosecutors, the man is also said to have drugged another victim and stolen his valuables.
The suspect is in custody.
