Spotted in the fiction “Messiah” (Netflix), amazing in “A so long night” (TF1), Sayyid El Alami is just as much in the mini-series

To find "the good Malik", Antoine Chevrollier, the director of the mini-series "Oussekine" launched Wednesday May 11 on Disney +, did not hesitate to audition 520 actors.

When Sayyid El Alami learned that he had landed the main role, he was walking in the streets of Paris and he immediately called his mother.

" She cried.

The Oussekine affair was very important for my parents who are Moroccan and who remember this tragic event perfectly, confides the 20-year-old actor, originally from the south of France.

I too was very moved.

This project on police violence has such a social impact.

He hadn't told anyone that he coveted this role he wanted so badly.

As committed as the student killed by the police in December 1986 in Paris, he was not, the young actor had no trouble slipping into the skin of his character.

“I have a real political conscience, I campaign against injustice.

I was immersed in it very young with my father,” insists Sayyid El Alami who, like Malik, is the youngest of many siblings and very close to his mother.

The family shows him the student's belongings

For this wonderful fiction, he learned a lot about the drama beforehand and talked a lot with the director in order to stick as close as possible to the deceased boy.

He also met the family and "it wasn't easy at first," he says.

Fear “to rub the knife in the wound, to rekindle their pain” even if he is convinced, “this series will repair them a little”.

“They gave me Malik's suitcase in which there were his last personal belongings, remembers the interpreter.

There was his broken watch after the beating… I also saw his lessons on real estate that he had taken a few days before the tragedy.

These were very strong moments, he underlines.

It was as violent and overwhelming because it was concrete and I really realized that Malik had lots of desires, that he was passionate and that his future was ahead of him.

Then overnight, everything stopped.

“What a dream to play with Hiam Abbass”

The victim was a solar boy, told the actor his brothers and Antoine Chevrollier.

“For the director, it was important that we find in my acting his candor, his joie de vivre, his desire to learn.

We worked a lot on this essence, inside and out.

The shooting lasted four months and even if Sayyid El Alami is in the end not very present on the screen, he was there all the time.

“I was happy, the atmosphere was great.

It was very collective because we all had the same desire to defend the memory of Malik.

And what a dream to play with Hiam Abbass who plays my mother.

This woman is my role model!

From this experience, he retains an immense admiration, as sincere as it is touching, for Antoine Chevrollier, with whom he hopes to work again.

He also created a real bond with the Oussekine brothers.

“Especially with Ben Amar.

Of course, I will always see it.
