The desert is a place of inspiration.

Many of us miss him and remember him for the kindness of the annual trips or

trips from the military.

Fun to visit the desert again, to be filled with the spirit, to be peaceful, to think for a moment about things a little

from the side.

Sometimes we are speechless, sometimes the thought swirls as we stand in front of a desert landscape in shades of

yellow and brown.

We chose five places to go to in the Mitzpe and Ramon Crater area, just before it starts to get too hot, to connect with yourself through the desert.

1. A scenic trail on the outskirts of Mitzpe Ramon

There is a secret path that only the residents of Mitzpe Ramon know.

This is a half-hour walking trail that overlooks the desert and gives

a slightly higher view of Mitzpe Ramon itself.

The length of the trail is less than a kilometer and it is also suitable for children

who walk well.

How to get there: Near the Sonol gas station, go to the Nahal Hava parking lot, and from there go up to a hill on which large stones are placed in a row.

There you search a bit and find the beginning of the trail.

We walk on it with Mitzpe Ramon

on our left and the desert on our right.

When you want, you can get into Mitzpe Ramon and return through the neighborhood by car, or just

walk back on the same path.

Important: The desert is sensitive and delicate.

We as travelers must treat it with respect.

We will not get dirty, we will not get off the dirt roads,

we will not leave any marks behind.

2. A window to space - a charming path for families in Mitzpe Ramon

A new path accessible to visitors to Mitzpe Ramon is currently being inaugurated.

The paved path passes through a landscape of a desert combined with a grove, and at the top there are thinly shaded and shaded seating areas with an observation point towards Mount Camel.

The trail is about 400 meters long, and is suitable for a pleasant afternoon stroll or cycling with children.

At the end of the path you will reach a grove with a water tap where you can relax.

3. The statue of Ezra Orion in the desert sculpture park in Ramon Crater

Ezra Orion's sculpture "Field of Rocks" is located at the end of the desert sculpture park that bears his name.

The park

contains 22 fascinating sculptures erected in 1962 and 1986 by artists from Israel and around the world.

The statue is an installation of 20 rocks lying on the ground, so that a path was created that ended at the edge of the cliff of

Ramon Crater.

The power of walking in a statue is hard to explain.

You will have to experience it for yourself.

How to get there: Drive on a dirt road in front of the statue.

4. Ramon colors axis

In the past, Mitzpe Ramon was a mining town, and in the Ramon Crater there were mainly gypsum quarries.

The quarrying operations

were stopped long ago, leaving us with walls that reveal the insane colors of the geological strata.

Fortunately, the Nature and Parks Authority has been active in recent years and has created a beautiful park with a modest road and lovely corners for resting and observing the same colorful cliffs.

How to get there: Wise writes "Ramon Colors National Park".

Note that there is a white dividing line for those coming from the north, and you should turn around at the turn to the gypsum quarry khan further down the road.

Drive carefully.

5. Saharonim Mountain

If you have come this far, you deserve something special: an observation point on the Ramon Crater from its southern edge.

It

takes a half-hour walk for the well-wishers, but well worth the effort.

How to get there:

Write in Wise "Nahal Gvanim parking lot".

The ride includes a descent from Route 40 and a 10-minute drive on a

desert dirt road, with a breathtaking desert view from the window.

You will reach a neat parking lot where you will park your car.

To the south you will find a path that ascends Mount Saharonim, a fairly steep ascent, but neither complicated nor long.

Climb it up comfortably and then turn east to the knife (narrow area) of Mt. Saharonim.

Walk leisurely until you find a comfortable vantage point.

Sit down with your coffee set.
