A strong earthquake with a magnitude of between 6.5 and 6.8 Richter degrees was felt last night in northwestern Argentina.
The epicenter was located 70 kilometers from San Antonio de los Cobres, in the province of jujuy, and at a depth of 210 kilometers.
The quake was recorded shortly after 20 local time (the Italian 1 today near the town of Susques, which is 177 kilometers from the city of Jujuy and 220 from that of Salta. According to local media, the earthquake was felt in various northern regions of Argentina and Chile. Government bodies of the two countries have indicated that there are currently no reports of fatal victims or serious injuries.
