Meat, fish and eggs can also be found in the emergency food supply, but what if you don't eat animal products?

These foods should be stocked by vegetarians and vegans instead.

The emergency stock recommended by the

Federal Office for Disaster Assistance

and Civil Protection (BBK) contains all the food groups you need for a balanced diet.

However, this also includes meat, fish and eggs, per person even 1.5 kg for 10 days.

If you eat neither meat nor fish, you cannot simply omit this food group, you must replace them accordingly.

This is the only way to ensure that you can cover the requirement of

2,200 kcal per person per day

with the food in your emergency supplies.

You can see here what

vegetarians and vegans

should stock in their emergency supplies instead.

The emergency supplies for vegetarians and vegans contain substitutes for meat, fish and eggs.

Living Stock: Consume the stored food regularly

Vegetarians and vegans

only have to make minor changes to the recommended emergency

supply in order to make ends meet for 10 days without meat.

Rely on vegetarian or vegan substitute products and preferably buy

protein sources such as legumes or nuts

to meet your needs.

Also, remember to use up and replenish your supply regularly.

This so-called "living supply" is not simply stored away, but is part of your diet and is therefore always fresh.

You can find delicious recipes that you can cook from your emergency supply here.
