Chase in the Saale-Orla district: in the small Thuringian town of Pößneck, a driver fled from the police at high speed on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the police, the driver of a Volkswagen was noticed by the officials around 4:50 p.m. because of his "rapid driving style".
When the patrol wanted to check him, the driver accelerated to 120 km/h in some cases.
When the police gave stop signals, the man even sped away at up to 140 kilometers per hour.
According to the police, other vehicles had to initiate emergency braking during the pursuit through the city.
An elderly lady should have gotten to safety from the getaway vehicle.
Vehicle found, driver at large
In the course of the chase, the VW also touched and damaged a wall when turning, but was able to continue and finally shook off the patrol.
However, the police discovered a "massive oil slick" on the road leading to a garden area.
There, the officers found the car parked locked – but not the driver, who had probably fled on foot.
The police are looking for witnesses.
