The Ministry of Education has set the date for the second phase of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative qualifiers at the level of educational districts from the 26th to the 28th of May, in which 2,150 male and female students from various educational levels will compete.
In a statement to SANA, Ali Al-Abbas, the general coordinator of the initiative in Syria, said that more than 60,000 students from Syria participated in the initiative, 11,022 male and female students qualified for the first phase, and 2,150 male and female students will compete in the second phase. The initiative in competition at the Arab level.
Al-Abbas pointed out that in the second phase qualifiers, a jury was formed for each educational district, comprising a member of the Arab Writers Union, pointing out that during this stage, the best school will be selected at the level of each educational district, and then the best school representing Syria in the initiative, which will conclude in October. The next one is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
It is noteworthy that the Arab Reading Challenge initiative was launched by the United Arab Emirates in its sixth edition, with Syria participating for the first time. It is a reading competition in the Arabic language in which students from different grades participate. Each participant is asked to read fifty books from outside the curriculum.
The fifth edition of the challenge was attended by 52 countries and more than 21 million students from 96,000 schools and 134,000 supervisors.
