Nominated twelve times: the film »Dear Thomas«

The Golden Lolas will be awarded on June 24, and the nominations for the German Film Prize have now been announced.
The film »Rabiye Kurnaz against George W. Bush« about the legal dispute over the German-Turkish man Murat Kurnaz, who was imprisoned in Guantánamo until 2006, was nominated for best feature film, as the German Film Academy announced on Thursday in Berlin.
The film has been nominated in a total of ten categories, including best director (Andreas Dresen) and best screenplay (Laila Stieler).
The drama Lieber Thomas about the writer Thomas Brasch and Grosse Freiheit, which is about a man who repeatedly ends up in prison in post-war Germany because of his homosexuality, are also in the running for best feature film.
Other nominees in the Best Feature Film category include Contra, Spencer and Beautiful.
»Dear Thomas« has been nominated twelve times, including twice for best supporting role (Jella Haase and Anja Schneider).
With eight nominations, »Große Freiheit« also has a good chance of a Lola.
This year's honorary award goes to cameraman Jürgen Jürges.
The children's film »The School of Magical Animals« by director Gregor Schnitzler received the award for the most popular film.

Alongside Farba Dieng in »Toubab«, Franz Rogowski in »Große Freiheit« and Albrecht Schuch in »Lieber Thomas« are competing for the best male leading role.
In addition to Sara Fazilat in »Nico«, Meltem Kaptan in »Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush«, Saskia Rosendahl in »Nobody is with the Calves« and Ursula Strauss in »Le Prince« are nominated in the category for best female lead.
The 72nd German Film Prize will be awarded on June 24th in Berlin.
It is endowed with prize money totaling almost three million euros.
Prizes are awarded in a total of 19 categories.
