The pumpkin and dot frenzy of Japanese artist Yaiwi Kusama, who swept the country with a record number of 620,000 visitors to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, is expected to end.
The most successful exhibition ever presented in Israel, will go down and close to the public on Saturday, May 14, 2022, on the evening of the closing, where there will be a visit and a final meeting with the curators of the exhibition.
On the eve of the closing of the exhibition, there will be a special meeting, which will include a free visit to the exhibition, after hours (a wonderful opportunity to say goodbye to the exhibition without queuing) followed by a conversation between the exhibition's curators, Susan Landau, Shahar Molcho and Naama Bar-Or. And will reveal some of the dilemmas and thoughts that have accompanied the last two years.
In recent months, the Israeli public has been patient every day in the long queues, the museum has extended its operating hours until midnight on weekends, until the museum reports a 60% increase in the number of subscribers and doubling the number of entries for young people aged 18-30.
Digital has also seen an impressive 400% increase in monthly visits to the museum's site (800,000 on average per month compared to 200,000 in the months before the exhibition), and doubling the number of followers on the museum's social networks compared to the previous period.
"I want to say thank you to the hundreds of thousands of visitors who came to the exhibition. It is wonderful that a large and diverse audience came in droves to the museum and found the exhibition so inspiring and exciting," says Tanya Cohen-Uzieli, director of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
