(ANSA) - MILAN, MAY 12 - Nespresso becomes B Corp and joins the 4,500 companies in the world that are rethinking the way of doing business and that are committed to respecting high standards of social and environmental responsibility and transparency.

The company has received B Corp certification: out of 150,000 companies worldwide that have undergone the B Impact Assessment - the assessment process - only 3% have obtained certification.

Nespresso in Italy strengthens its commitment to a sustainable business model by immediately adopting the status of Benefit Company, integrating in its corporate purpose, in addition to profit objectives, the aim of having a positive impact on society and the environment.

Among the key elements that contributed to the B Corp certification are the unique approach to coffee sourcing adopted by Nespresso - through the AAA Sustainable Quality ™ Program, in collaboration with the Rainforest Alliance - its alliance with Fairtrade and the global recycling program for spent aluminum capsules .

"The B Corp certification reflects Nespresso's 30-year commitment to sustainability, transparency and responsible business," said GuillaumeLe Cunff, CEO of Nespresso.

In Italy, Nespresso amended the by-laws to acquire the legal form of a Benefit Company, confirming the objective of a sustainable business and combining the goal of profit with those of common benefit.

"Since 2011 we have invested in Italy in projects dedicated to the themes of the circular economy and sustainability. This year, with the achievement of the B Corp certification at a global level and the adoption of the status of Benefit Company, we confirm our commitment in an even more concrete way", he said. explained ThomasReuter, General Manager of Nespresso Italiana.

In Italy, the cornerstone of the 'Nespresso for Italy' program is the circular economy project 'From Chicco to Chicco' which allows coffee capsules to be recycled: new objects are created from aluminum,

while the coffee becomes compost for an arisaia in Italy from which Nespresso gets its own rice, chedona to Banco Alimentare di Lombardia and Lazio.
