Night of the Museums, Europe is getting ready

After two years of hiatus due to Covid, the evening appointment with culture is back and the Europa Expérience starts in Paris: a new interactive space dedicated to the European Union and its values ​​of peace, freedom and democracy (ANSA)


On May 14, Europe responds to the

Night of museums. 

The initiative, paused for two years by the Covid-19 pandemic, was promoted in 2005 and provides for the opening of museums in the evening hours.

An opportunity to enter the main museums, monumental complexes, parks and state archaeological sites and admire the masterpieces at an unusual time such as the night, and for the symbolic price of only one euro.

The event within the event

In full French presidency of the European Union ,

a new interactive space dedicated to the European Union and its values ​​of peace, freedom and democracy will be inaugurated, again on May 14, in the heart of

Paris 'Europa Expérience' .

Promoted by the European Parliament and the EU Commission, 'Europa Expérience' stands in Place de la Madeleine, the square in the center of Paris known for the church of the same name built on the model of an ancient Greek temple.

Set up in the spaces of the former Pinacothèque de Paris, the 1,500 square meter center will be open to the public from Saturday afternoon, on the occasion of the 'Night of the Museums'.

Along the three-storey path, the visitor will be able to immerse themselves in a sort of interactive 'journey' around the process of community integration, including cutting-edge technologies, augmented reality and a 360-degree cinema.

 During the free access visit, visitors will be able to 'travel' through the EU, discovering its various political, economic and cultural dimensions, but also grasp its future challenges and share the life of the inhabitants of other Member States.

For organized groups, Europa Expérience proposes, upon reservation, a role-playing game in which participants are asked to take on the role of MEPs, negotiating, adopting or rejecting EU rules as happens in reality between Strasbourg and Brussels.

The contents are available in the 24 languages ​​of the Union, accessible to visitors with disabilities.

The ambition is to have one for each European capital.

In Rome it should open its doors between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 in Piazza Venezia

The Navy will participate in the "Night of the Museums" event organized by

Roma Capitale

For the occasion, there will be an extraordinary opening of Palazzo Marina at night, from 20 to 2. Visitors will be accompanied to discover the wonders housed in the headquarters of the Navy General Staff which, for all Romans, is nicknamed the "Palazzo of the Anchors ".

"A suggestive nocturnal visit - informs the Armed Force - which will wind through the internal courtyard, the monumental staircase of honor leading to the Marble Hall, the long corridors flecked with marbles and the elegant Library, with its wood paneling and full of ingenious systems to take over 40 thousand precious volumes off the shelves, many of which are rare manuscripts ".

For the occasion, the Navy Band will perform in an outdoor concert, from 20.30 to 21.10,

performing a repertoire of hymns and marches.

The visits, as well as the concert, are free and accessible by reservation. 

Rome also offers the opportunity to visit the Baths of Caracalla and for free to discover Villa di Livia and the Arch of Malborghetto on the Via Flaminia, take part in guided tours in the archaeological complex of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, the widespread Museum of Testaccio, or immerse yourself in the magical and mysterious atmosphere of the Barberini Mitreo.

The

Royal Palace of Caserta

adheres to the European Night of Museums: the royal apartments will in fact be open from 19.30 to 22.15, with last admission at 21.45.

The extraordinary evening opening will be dedicated to the great creator of the Palace, the architect Luigi Vanvitelli, whose residence King Charles of Bourbon commissioned.

To remember Vanvitelli, the Museum's Development, Education and Mediation Service will be waiting for visitors at the foot of the Royal Staircase to reveal details, anecdotes and curiosities of the great genius.

After passing through the antechambers, inside which it is possible to admire two of the works of the Terrae Motus collection, namely "Earthquake in the palace" by Joseph Beuys and "Terrae Motus" by Augusto Perez, visitors will find themselves in the Sala di Alessandro where, with the nose up, they will be able to admire the

fresco "Marriage of Alexander the Great and Roxane" by Mariano Rossi.

Then, continuing along the museum itinerary, the rooms of Mars and Astrea will introduce you to the wonder of the Throne Room, in the presence of the symbols of the Kingdom.

We will then move on to the more discreet rooms of the crown prince's quarter: the Rooms of the Seasons and the Apartment of Queen Maria Carolina.

Along the eastern side of the Palace, then, you will walk through the Palatine Library and the Sala del Crib di Corte, with its multimedia set-up.

Before concluding the visit, we will pass through the rooms of the Pinacoteca which house, among other paintings, the "Views of the ports of the Kingdom" by Jacob Philipp Hackert.

Extraordinary opening of the Uffizi and the Bargello museum in

Florence,

but also of the Fattori museum in

Livorno

and of the Pratomusei network, for the 'European Night of Museums' 2022. For the occasion, the Gallery of statues and paintings of the Uffizi will be open from 7 pm to 10 pm, as well as the national museum of the Bargello which, in addition to the usual opening opening from 8.45am to 7pm, it will be accessible until 10pm. On the night of the museums, after two years of pandemic, it also returns to Livorno where from 8pm to 10pm it will be possible to enter the temporary exhibition 'Vittore Grubicy De Dragon.
