(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 13 - "We must reduce wild boars to protect agriculture and avoid risks for the safety of citizens". Thus the Undersecretary of Health, Andrea Costa, underlined that "today the density of wild boars in certain areas of Italy is at least 5 times higher than the sustainability of the ecosystem and, beyond the contingent factor of swine fever, I remain convinced and I want to strongly reiterate, while respecting the sensitivities of the animals, that this is an emergency in front of which it is necessary to foresee the extension of the 'hunting activity from 3 to 5 months and the possibility for the Regions to re-determine the quotas ".
