Mark Zuckerberg anticipates new metaverse viewer

It's called Project Cambria, it will be launched this year. (HANDLE)

Here comes a preview of what Project Cambria, the new metaverse viewer of Meta-Facebook will be like.

The CEO Mark Zuckerberg showed it online, last week he was in Italy and met with companies and also Prime Minister Draghi.

The device, of which we have the first news since last fall, since the CEO launched the metaverse project, is shown while using The World Beyond, a mix between game and platform that merges the physical and virtual world.

The official announcement is expected to take place later this year, with an arrival in stores in early 2023.

Unlike competitive headsets, such as Microsoft's HoloLens 2 and Magic Leap 2, which have clear lenses and send holographic images in front of the user's view, Project Cambria is a more classic-looking headset, close to the current Oculus Quest 2, a company acquired in 2014 by Meta, however, able to offer both augmented and virtual reality experiences.

This is made possible by a better functionality of "passthrough", that is the passage of the vision from 3D to the surrounding world, which uses the cameras mounted on the device to show the surrounding environment clearly and in color.

For this type of use, we are talking about mixed reality and not just augmented or virtual reality.

Passthrough is already present on other headsets but as a lower quality option, which does not allow the wearer to move freely around the room without risk.

As stated in the Zuckerberg demo, Cambria will provide high resolution color videos to make the experience more realistic and useful.

The app used in the demonstration, The World Beyond, was developed on the "Presence Platform", a digital creation platform that brings together code writing and Artificial Intelligence, to simplify the creation of 3D worlds, even for those who are not experienced developer.
