In Germany, too, the stackable chips now apparently contain sweet whey powder – according to the Kellogg's group, food waste can be reduced in this way.

Michigan - What's not vegan about potatoes?

It is always amazing how many products the manufacturers use animal products.

Recently, sweet whey powder has also been included in Pringles chips.

Many see the change as a step backwards.

It was only in April that Pringles made negative headlines because the price went up and the pack content was reduced.

Bucking the current trend towards vegan nutrition, the Kellogg's group is changing the recipe for the stackable chips.

According to the portal Utopia.de

, what was introduced in Great Britain in December 2021 is

now.

also a reality in Germany.

In the future, almost all Pringles varieties will contain sweet whey powder, a by-product of cheese production in a dehydrated form.

Pringles chips no longer vegan: More sustainability with sweet whey powder?

Kellogg's, one of the world's largest companies for the production of grain products, justified the change in the recipe on the one hand with economic considerations, i.e. cheaper production.

On the other hand, the measure could reduce food waste.

“By adding milk, we can increase capacity, save costs and reduce the amount of food waste generated when switching spices for allergen cleaning.

Reducing food waste helps us meet our sustainability commitment to halve organic waste, including food waste, by 2030,” Kellogg's said when asked by Vegan Food UK in December 2021.

This was also reported at the time by

Only the "Original" variety remains free of dairy products.

It remains to be seen whether the step is really good for the product.

Because more and more people are vegan and will no longer be able to eat Pringles in the future.

Even people with a lactose intolerance are now denied the enjoyment of the snacks.

After losing the lawsuit, Pringles fall under the category of snack foods and can no longer be called potato chips because they are made from mashed potato powder.
