The white-grey sign with the curved arrow is mainly found in cities and raises many questions.
That's what it means for drivers.
Driving a car can be quite stressful, especially in the city when there is a lot of traffic and it feels like you are standing at every traffic light.
It gets even more stressful when drivers are suddenly faced with a sign that they don't know what it means.
Such as a traffic sign with two black circles on a white surface, the meaning of
which echo24.de
has already explained.
In addition, some traffic signs are now not aimed at motorists at all - such as the green arrow for cyclists.
However, a white and gray sign with a curved arrow is definitely aimed at motorists - but what does it mean?
White and gray sign with a curved arrow: what the sign means
The "white-grey sign with a curved arrow" is listed in the road traffic regulations (StVO) under "traffic sign 590-10".
In fact, this traffic sign has only had this number since the StVO amendment in 2009 - before that it had the number "468-10".
The sign was introduced in 1992 and also has a name: "Block bypass right, left, left".
But what exactly does it mean now?
The sign announces a "prescribed direction of travel" and points to a "difficult traffic routing".
The block avoidance sign is usually only for left turns and signals motorists how to proceed in order to be able to turn left at the next intersection - as follows: "right, left, left".
Anyone who sees this traffic sign must adhere to the prescribed direction of travel and "prescribed passing" and may not, for example, simply drive straight ahead to the intersection and turn left "normally".
Actually easy.

Anyone who finds this sign difficult to interpret will probably only shake their heads at the related traffic sign "590-11".
It's called "Block Bypass Right, Right, Right" and it looks really confusing at first glance.
The meaning is also relatively simple: If you want to turn left, you have to drive in a circle – i.e. turn right three times and then go straight on.
The traffic sign “590-10 – block bypass right-left-left” can be seen on the left, and the sign “590-11 – block bypass right-right-right” can be seen on the right.

The "traffic sign 590-10" and also the sign "590-11" are listed by the Federal Roads Office (BASt) as traffic control panels, as is the traffic sign with arrows and circles or the white traffic sign with blue circles and numbers.
