Israeli police have announced that they will open an investigation after the international protest in reaction to images showing the intervention of police officers during the funeral in Jerusalem of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, whose coffin nearly fell to the ground.
"The Israeli police commissioner, in coordination with the minister of public security, has ordered an investigation into the incident. The results of the investigation will be presented to the commissioner in the next few days," police said in a statement.
