Daffodils ring in the warmer season with their white-yellow color.

Better not to put them in a vase with tulips.

That's behind it.

Munich – spring time is also flower time: in your own four walls, they ensure a good mood.

In addition, the ambience is friendlier, which goes perfectly with the sunnier temperatures outside.

In spring, early bloomers such as daffodils and tulips are particularly popular.

So if you think that the two make a perfect combination in the vase at home, you are wrong.

Because they don't get along very well.

But why is that?

Basically, daffodils are just a botanical generic term, the daffodils (Narcissus pseudonarcissus) are probably the most well-known subspecies.

With their white-yellow flowers, they herald the warmer season.

This also applies to tulips (Tulipa), which, thanks to their many different colored inflorescences, provide colorful spots in your own four walls.

But the two cut flowers should be placed separately in vases in the apartment if you don't want to be disappointed.

The reason for this: daffodils don't like company in the glass.

Tulips in particular let their heads hang in their vicinity after only a very short time.

This is because daffodils, like hyacinths, secrete a secretion that they release into the water.

This ensures that the pathways of the tulips become clogged.

As a result, the latter can neither absorb water nor nutrients properly.

With the result that they wither.

Daffodils for the home: a little trick for a vase of tulips

But there is a little trick to prevent this.

If you still want to put daffodils and tulips together in a vase, you should first place the daffodils alone in it.

This ensures that they can “slim up” before mating with other plants.

Wait at least a day, then wash the stems or the cuts of the daffodils and change the water.

Now you can also put the tulips in the vase.

And with that the problem is solved!

However, if you are impatient, you can simply place a glass of water in a large vase.

Put the daffodils in here.

So you drape the tulips in their own water in the large vase.
