In many regions of Germany you can expect a lot of sunshine this weekend.

On the Upper Rhine and on the Saar, temperatures of up to 30 degrees are possible on Sunday, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Saturday.

In the northeastern half of the Federal Republic, the values ​​are expected to climb to 20 to 26 degrees, and it will be a little cooler on the coastal sections.

Partly heavy downpours or thunderstorms

On Monday and Tuesday, a low should spread to Germany from the southwest.

According to the DWD, this should bring showers – including heavy ones.

In the night of Monday, the first, sometimes heavy downpours or thunderstorms can rise in the west and south-west, as the meteorologists explained.

You will reach the Elbe and the east of Bavaria by the evening, locally there is a risk of storms.

The sun will probably shine the longest on Monday from the Baltic Sea to Lower Bavaria.

According to the weather service, maximum values ​​​​of 18 to 24 degrees are reached in the far north, in the other areas 24 to 28 degrees.

Opening of the bathing season

Despite water temperatures of just under twelve degrees, it is possible to jump again in many places on the coasts of Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the North and Baltic Seas.

Mid-May is the official season opening for the watch season of the German Life Saving Society (DLRG).

The lifeguards of the water rescue service of the German Red Cross (DRK) have also started the watch season.

In Zinnowitz on Usedom, for example, they have been ensuring safe bathing fun since May 1st.

And also in Berlin and Brandenburg, the bathing season starts on Sunday at the official bathing spots in the rivers and lakes.

There are 254 bodies of water in Brandenburg and 39 in Berlin.
