The video of a cat that looks more like a Dalmatian or a cow thanks to its unique coat coloration amazes animal lovers on TikTok.

Spain – A cat named Floki has a unique coat color that makes her very special.

Her owner regularly posts clips of the beautiful velvet paw on her TikTok account "thecat_floki", which always causes a lot of enthusiasm.

But an enchanting video by Floki that was posted just a few days ago has now received a lot of attention.

Cat has unique coat color: "Is that zebra, cow or cat?"

In the clip you can see Floki busy with the faucet in the kitchen.

The young cat seems visibly confused as to where this mysterious water comes from and what it is all about.

After a brief hesitation at first, Floki gropes the water that comes out of the faucet, but then in a death-defying mood.

He seems a bit startled when it splashes his way and he gets wet.

Floki licks the water off his paw and tries it again - this new game is just too interesting.

Another cat has a very funny technique of drinking from the tap.

Her unique coat coloring makes Floki a viral darling on TikTok.

Cat has unique coat coloration: genes responsible for specific patterns

Aside from the fact that the cat and its whimsical behavior isn't cute enough, it's Floki's unique appearance that gets viewers of the clip excited.

Because the pattern of the black and white spots on the fur reminds many of completely different animals than a cat: some people compare it to a Dalmatian, others even to a cow.

But how did the pattern come about?

In 2021, scientists at Stanford University discovered a possible clue to the origin of this characteristic pattern in cat fur: the gene DKK4, which is located in the cat's skin, is said to be responsible for whether the fur produces darker or lighter hair in some areas.

Other genes are said to be responsible for whether a cat has spots or stripes.

And as Floki's case proves, the result can be spectacular and a real eye-catcher.

Cat has unique coat color: animal fans on the internet are thrilled

Since it was published a few days ago, Floki's new video has already been viewed 3.5 million times and has already received almost 454,000 likes.

People online are smitten with the cat's unique looks and are venting their excitement in the comments.

Here is a small selection of them:

  • "How beautiful is this cat!!!

    OMG!”

  • "Dalmatian Cat"

  • "That's the smallest cow I've ever seen!

    So insanely cute!”

  • "You are beautiful, you are really beautiful"!

  • "I'm confused, is that a zebra, a cow or a cat?"

  • "Such a beautiful kitten!

    So unique ❤️❤️❤️”

  • "Why is this the first time I see a cat cow 🥰🥰🥰"

Because many people ask what breed Floki is, his owner explains in a follow-up video that he was adopted from the animal shelter.

Found in a garage as a baby cat with severe burns, he was nursed back to health and has now become an online darling.
