Asked by the magazine “Variety”, the general delegate, Thierry Frémaux, repeated the arguments he has been hammering out for years: “There are no quotas in Cannes.
Here, we select films exclusively on their artistic merits”.
Only five women, therefore, will compete this year for the Palme d'Or against a jury chaired by Vincent Lindon, who succeeds Spike Lee.
