"Could send their locator dogs and still win": British TV man on Ukraine at Eurovision | Israel today

Pierce Morgan, the controversial British television broadcaster, notes a well-known truth about the political considerations behind the international poetry competition, but takes the claim one step further, in a particularly blatant direction • "Results should not be determined by which countries suffer the most"

There is no doubt that the Ukrainian Kalush Orchestra's victory in the last Eurovision Song Contest was also due to political considerations.

But while much of the viewers accepted the matter with some understanding and did not complain too much, the controversial British television broadcaster Pierce Morgan, who sometimes used to express his views bluntly, did not like the move to say the least.

"No one who voted for Ukraine thought their song was the best, because it was far from being the best. Even the Ukrainians themselves did not think it was the best song," tweeted the 57-year-old Morgan.

"They were chosen because of the sympathy, which is fine - provided they remove the word 'competition' from the Eurovision Song Contest," he added.

But Morgan was not content with those words.

He fearlessly claimed that the Eurovision Song Contest was an "addicted farce", and that Ukraine would have won this year anyway, no matter what song it would have sent.

The world's most absurd, pointless, politically-motivated 'contest' excels itself.

Ukraine could have sent one of its heroic bomb-sniffing dogs to bark the national anthem and still won.

Happy for them, but please let's stop calling #Eurovision a contest… it's a rigged farce.

"The most political, absurd, irrational 'competition' has surpassed itself. Ukraine could have sent one of its bomb detection dogs this year, barking the national anthem, and still winning. I'm happy for her, but please, let's stop calling the Eurovision." competition'".

In another tweet, Morgan clarified that "the results of an international poetry competition should not be determined by which countries suffer the most during the period in which the competition takes place, otherwise there is no point in holding a competition."

As you may recall, Pierce Morgan "resigned" last year from hosting the morning show Good Morning Britain, after harshly criticizing Megan Merkel and claiming she was a liar.

Recently began airing the program Piers Morgan Uncensored on the new British channel Talk TV, which is owned by media mogul and one of the richest people in the world, Rupert Murdoch.
