The fight against weeds in the garden often seems endless.
Instead of chemicals, however, very simple home remedies are sufficient.

Weeds in the garden: Weeds are a plague for some
Not every herb is directly a weed, that often depends on the place where it grows.
Normally, a weed is primarily a wild herb and can be quite beneficial.
So horseradish is not welcome, while it is a practical crop in the vegetable patch.

Simple household remedies such as lime, charcoal ash, hot water or black foil can work wonders.
Mowing and fertilizing, for example with a fertilizer you make yourself, also help to keep the lawn healthy and to destroy weeds or keep them away.
If you make sure that the grass is never shorter than four centimeters when mowing, the weeds will not get enough light.
The grass is then high enough and provides shade.
Foil that can be placed over the weeds also has a similar effect.
If the herb does not get enough light, it cannot grow and dies back, advises the magazine Mein schön Garten.

If the pH is between six and seven, that's fine.

Regular sprinkling of charcoal ash helps against dandelions, for example.
Root weeds are easily removed by pouring boiling water over them.
The Garden Journal recommends pulling out the dead part and dousing the rest again with boiling water.
You can also use leftover pasta water for this.
Thistles can also be considered a nuisance in the garden.
They are easier to remove if you clip the stems before the next rain.
If the inside of the thistle gets wet, it will rot and die.
With the help of these tricks, weeds can be removed more easily and, above all, in an environmentally friendly manner if necessary.
