(ANSA) - TURIN, MAY 16 - The fourth museum of the Gallerie d'Italia opens in Turin, in Piazza San Carlo, in the historic headquarters of Intesa Sanpaolo, after Milan, Naples and Vicenza.

A cultural hub, open to the city, with an exhibition path of 10 thousand square meters on five floors, three of which are underground, dedicated to photography and the Baroque.

Here will be held original temporary exhibitions, commissioned to photographers of international fame - the first is "The fragile wonder. A journey in changing nature" by Paolo Pellegrin, curated by WalterGuadagnini - and activities such as teaching for schools and scientific research will be organized.

"The opening of the Turin office completes a national project and represents one of the most important stages in the history of our bank's commitment to the cultural sphere. In a scenario of dramatic uncertainty like the one we are experiencing, it is a sign of hope and trust in future "explains Giovanni Bazoli, president emeritus of Intesa Sanpaolo.

Present at the inauguration were the president Gian Maria Gros-Pietro and Carlo Messina, managing director of the eceo, the mayor Stefano Lo Russo, the president of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio.

The Gallerie d'Italia in Turin, in the spaces refurbished by the architect Michele De Lucchi, are also the new headquarters of the Intesa Sanpaolo Publifoto Archive - with 7 million copies made from the 1930s to the 1990s - and exhibit works from the Group's collections, including the cycle painting of the ancient Oratory of the Compagnia di SanPaolo.

The opening of the Turin museum and the new headquarters in Naples, which will open to the public on 21 May with tripled spaces, are part of the Business Plan and consolidate Intesa Sanpaolo's position among the first private cultural operators at an international level.
