At the end of October last year, a 22-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in Hamburg-Bramfeld.
Neighbors alerted the police – only an emergency operation could save the young woman's life.
The suspect was the woman's partner.
After the incident, he fled over the roof of an apartment building, took off his clothes on the way and was able to go into hiding.
Suspect arrested in Paris
The Algerian was then wanted with an international arrest warrant.
In the course of the extensive investigations, the trail of the suspect led to Paris.
The Hamburg law enforcement authorities suspected that he had stayed with a family member there.
And indeed: in cooperation with the French police, the Hamburg target investigators finally managed to locate the suspect in Paris.
He was arrested on Thursday morning last week.
It is not yet clear when the 26-year-old will be extradited to Germany.
Nothing is known about a possible motive.
