(ANSA) - MOSCOW, MAY 16 - The admission of Sweden and Finland to NATO is "an error with far-reaching consequences", said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister SergheiRyabkov, reported by the Interfax agency.
NATO, he added, speaking to reporters in Moscow, "must have no illusions" that Russia can tolerate Stockholm and Helsinki joining the Atlantic Alliance.
"The general level of military tensions will increase and there will be less predictability in this area. It is a shame that common sense is being sacrificed to a phantom idea of what should be done in the current circumstances."
"This is another serious mistake with far-reaching consequences. Well, this is the level of those who make their respective decisions in their respective countries", (ANSA).
