Goldfish survives journey through sewers - rescue in sewage treatment plant

Goldfish Klarchen swims through the Schierlinger canal system and with a bit of luck will be rescued from the clarifier by an employee.

Schierling (Bavaria) – Cold, clear water, a few stones on the bottom, green plants gently swaying in the water and a goldfish swimming around.

Not an unusual picture.

But a goldfish in a sewage treatment plant with dirty and polluted water?

No goldfish can survive that – actually.

But Klarchen made it.

There are all sorts of things floating around in the waters of a sewage treatment plant.

For sewage master Thomas Treintl, this is a completely normal sight.

The sewer network repeatedly produces a large number of rarities and foreign objects, writes the municipality of Markt Schierling on Facebook.

Just usually no goldfish.

And so Treintl can hardly believe his eyes when he suddenly discovers just such a thing next to leftovers and other legacies.

Goldfish Survives Sewer Journey - "Such a Nice Surprise"

“That has never happened before in my career.

Suddenly two eyes looked at me.

Really crazy, but also such a nice surprise,” reports Treintl.

However, where the goldfish came from is uncertain.

It's a miracle that he survived, though.

After all, the goldfish must have traveled many kilometers in the canals before it ended up in the Schierlinger sewage treatment plant.

Although not in a sewage treatment plant, a blind mare ended up in a fire pond when she broke out of the paddock.

And the little goldfish also survived a considerable hurdle in the sewage treatment plant.

Because the screw hoist lifts it about six meters high into the fine screening basin.

To where his rescuer then discovers him.

After being rescued, these two baby bears have found a new home.

The goldfish stays in the care of the sewage treatment plant for one night and is given a name right away.

The employees of the sewage treatment plant affectionately christen it "Klarchen".

Klarchen has now been adopted by a couple from Schierlingen and everyone hopes that the fighting little goldfish will recover well from his adventurous journey through the sewers and live a happy life in a garden pond.
