Those who sleep too little struggle with daytime sleepiness.

But there are other possible reasons that are less obvious.

Are you feeling extremely tired by the afternoon at the latest?

Are your eyes closing and are you losing concentration?

Or do you just not want to get going in the morning?

Exhaustion and tiredness are often blamed on the weather.

But not only weather-sensitive people can react to changes in the weather with listlessness: There are also many other reasons why people struggle with tiredness.

Most of these are nothing to worry about, but there are signs that should make you see a doctor.

This includes, for example, pronounced daytime sleepiness, which can result in traffic accidents due to carelessness on the road.

Chronic exhaustion, which makes it impossible to cope with everyday life, must also be clarified by a doctor.

This is the only way to rule out diseases such as fatigue syndrome, also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), or sleep apnea.

Four simple tricks to drive away fatigue

But many healthy adults are also familiar with episodes characterized by listlessness and tiredness.

Most of the time, simple lifestyle changes can help

.

According to the Business Insider portal, this includes four measures:

  • Get enough sleep

: The most important and obvious tip for people who feel constantly exhausted.

Sleep requirements vary greatly from person to person: Some people get by with six hours a night, others need at least eight.

According to the Techniker Krankenkasse, the rule of thumb for the ideal amount of sleep is: If you can concentrate on working while sitting for a long time during the day without getting sleepy, you have found your personal sleep quota.

  • Take in enough nutrients and drink enough

: If the body lacks important nutrients or if it gets too few calories, it runs on the back burner.

The lack of energy is noticeable, among other things, through tiredness.

Therefore, make sure you eat a balanced diet or, in the case of a nutrient deficiency, seek advice from your doctor as to whether dietary supplements make sense.

  • Get moving

: A sedentary lifestyle can also make you tired, Ben Smarr, an assistant professor of bioengineering and data science at the University of California San Diego, told Business Insider.

Just going for a walk has a huge effect, according to a study by the University of Georgia.

Even light exercise (e.g. simply walking) would reduce fatigue by 65 percentage points in people who sit a lot and often complain.

  • Reduce Stress

: Stress can negatively impact sleep quality.

Affected people often have problems falling asleep and are therefore not well rested when the alarm clock rings early in the morning.

Relaxation techniques such as autogenic training or meditation help to calm down.
