Covid: Insufficient adhesion to vaccines, there are "concrete" risks

2022-05-17T13:03:21.587Z

Document of the Ministry of Health: "The evolution of the epidemiological picture shows an increased circulation of the virus with variants characterized by greater diffusivity and less severity of clinical expression" (ANSA)

"There is still

insufficient adherence

to the vaccination schedule which outlines the

concrete risk of leaving more vulnerable subjects exposed to the development of serious disease.

This evidence, in addition to compromising the health of individuals, systematically puts at risk the hospitals, currently engaged, in the recovery of the treatment of deferred pathologies due to pandemics ".

This is what is read in the document that the Ministry of Health and the Direction of the vaccination campaign completion unit sent to the Regions and Autonomous Provinces to implement and strengthen the vaccination campaign.

"The evolution of the epidemiological picture shows an

increased circulation of the virus

- reads the document - with variants characterized by greater diffusivity and less severity of clinical expression. In Italy, in particular, the infection affects an almost completely vaccinated population protected by an antibody response that nonetheless protects against the development of serious disease, as evidenced by the trend in hospital admissions for covid.

The current ministerial indications - concludes the document - for the 'third dose' (additional doses and booster doses) and the 'fourth dose' (second booster), provide for its administration in specific categories of citizens in relation to the presence of particular conditions fragility and the risk of developing a serious disease in which any immune strengthening intervention contributes to increasing the defenses ".
