An eleven-year-old, uninvolved girl was fatally injured by a gunshot during a chase in the Bronx, New York.
Two suspects on a motorcycle had followed a pedestrian on Monday afternoon and tried to shoot at him, the police said at a press conference.
A bullet hit the girl in the stomach.
It was reportedly taken to a clinic in critical condition.
It was there that he succumbed to his injuries.
The 11-year-old is the second child to be shot dead in the Bronx this year, police said.
The New York Times reported that she was on her way to meet friends.
The suspects are being sought.
