In connection with suspected right-wing extremist attack plans in Essen, the police briefly arrested a young man on Monday evening.
He is now free again, said a police spokesman.
The young adult is therefore suspected of violating the gun law.
That is why there was an access by a special task force in his apartment on Monday evening.
Several weapons were found, but according to the current status of the investigation, they were not sharp.
No further information was given about the suspect.
Exchanged in chats about bombs?
Last week, the police arrested a student after a witness reportedly planned a bomb attack on his school.
Both the 16-year-old's current school, a grammar school, and the secondary school he previously attended were then closed and searched for explosive devices.
Extensive evidence was secured from the youth.
He is in custody.
In the meantime, the federal prosecutor's office has taken over the investigation.
This is done because of the special importance of the case, the authority said on Monday.
The student is suspected of having prepared a right-wing extremist terrorist attack at his school.
Teachers and a large number of students were to be killed.
According to reports in the "Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" and the "Bild" newspaper, the young man, who was arrested for a short time, chatted with the suspect - and exchanged information about bombs and attacks.
He is said to have been targeted by investigators.
The police would not confirm that.
According to SPIEGEL information, the student listed the Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik as a role model.
During a search, police found a manifesto by the youth, in which he wrote about several "inspirations" for his plans, including the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in the USA and the shootings in Erfurt in 2002 and Winnenden in 2009.
