- According to the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef), up to 600,000 more children worldwide could be left without access to life-saving care for severe acute malnutrition due to rising raw material costs, partly due to rising fuel prices and the war in Ukraine.

In a latest press release, UNICEF says the price of ready-to-use therapeutic foods could increase by up to 16% in the next six months due to the higher cost of raw materials.

The ready-to-use therapeutic food, known as Rutf, is an energetic thick paste made from peanuts, sugar, oil and milk powder.

Russia and Ukraine are key agricultural producers and exporters, but war is blocking supply lines.
