US: 'California church killer driven by hatred Taiwanese'

(see report at 20.27) (ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 17 MAY - The man arrested for shooting in a church in Southern California (1 dead and 5 injured), is a Chinese immigrant, now an American citizen, who acted pushed by hatred for the people of Taiwan, an island which Beijing claims as part of its territory.

The authorities report it.

This is David Chou, 68, from Las Vegas.

The victim is John Cheng, 52, Taiwanese like the five injured.

   The cause of the attack is therefore the disagreements between the attacker and the local Taiwanese community.
