The actress Anouschka Renzi, in her own words, took part in the RTL "jungle camp" solely because of the money.
"There is nothing worse for me than having no money, and you earn a lot of money in the jungle," Renzi told the dpa news agency in Bad Hersfeld.
She had been offered 13 previous offers and had always declined.
"I'm A-class for these kinds of formats."
The fee offered has increased from year to year, said Renzi.
"Then I did it, purely for the cash."
The actress said that she would be engaged for four productions in the near future – but that was not foreseeable when she agreed to the jungle camp, especially since there were only cancellations during the corona pandemic.
"Apart from the Corona aid, I had no money, and with the Corona aid: That's not enough for me.
I finance myself, my daughter, so two apartments, two health insurances.«
Renzi spoke in Bad Hersfeld as part of the Bad Hersfeld Festival.
There she will be seen in four roles alongside "Tatort" star Richy Müller in the opening piece "Notre Dame".
Everything under one roof
Reality TV format in front of an audience of millions, top-class acting and tabloid theatre, »Playboy« and TV series - for Renzi it all fits together.
"This job consists of everything," said the 57-year-old.
"I've been a contrast all my life, nobody can really judge me." For example, she could also imagine taking part in the RTL live dance show "Let's Dance" or in "The Masked Singer" by ProSieben.
The requests for the "jungle camp" did not surprise Renzi.
»They know very well that when I'm in there, there's bound to be conflict, problems, because I'm the way I am.
I say what I think.« And: »I am also someone who does not suffer quietly, unfortunately.«
Before she traveled to South Africa, Renzi reported that she prepared herself at home: “I put two raw eggs in a cup and said I’ll swallow them now.
I tried it – got out right away.” In the camp in front of the cameras and the big team, she did it and passed a total of five exams – also because she was hungry and there was a chance of extra food if the exams were passed.
She didn't watch the TV broadcasts herself, said Renzi, but she doesn't care about the topic now either.
»Once the reputation is ruined, life is completely unashamed.«
