(ANSA) - BRUXELELS, MAY 18 - Finland and Sweden have presented their respective applications for NATO membership.
The requests are presented to the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, by the ambassadors of the two countries.
"This is a historic moment at a critical time for our safety," said Stoltenberg.
"We hope to conclude the accession process quickly", he added.
