How is it looking?
Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, muggy and warm air will come to Germany from the west, so there will be two days with a risk of severe weather - but not the same for everyone.
This is the forecast for Thursday afternoon 4 p.m., purple are thunderstorms, dark purple are bad thunderstorms.
But be careful: Weather models never know exactly where the thunderstorms are, it is only a classification of the focal points.
Things will probably get a little worse on Friday.
How can this be explained?
The day after tomorrow the high-energy thunderstorm air and the shearing will be superimposed.
The latter describes different wind directions and wind speeds when the warm air rises – and here means that the updrafts feel like rotating.
That doesn't have to automatically trigger a tornado, even if it's conceivable that there will be one.
But a rotating supercell is also a hazard in itself, the supercell parameter kicks in on Friday afternoon (here's 4 p.m. for example).
What's next?
There will still be scattered showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, but the drama will be out of the air by the weekend.
What should I do?
Do not drive into flooded stretches of road.
Avoid trees and all flying objects in thunderstorms.
Don't be a target for lightning, it likes to strike right into you if you're standing next to a tall tree or house.
