After a serious accident on Autobahn 1 near Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia, the police began investigations into 34 suspected gaffers.

This was announced by the Dortmund police.

According to the information, the police mainly initiated proceedings “due to the use of electronic devices”.

The alleged gaffers threatened fines or criminal proceedings.

In the accident involving three trucks on Tuesday, a 64-year-old was trapped in the driver's cab and injured so badly that he had to be resuscitated at the scene of the accident, the police said.

The man is therefore in mortal danger.

A rescue helicopter also landed at the scene of the accident.

Despite the erected privacy walls, numerous onlookers were drawn to the scene of the accident.

The police appealed in the message to concentrate on their own vehicle and the lane.

"Road users who also film the scene of the accident and possible injuries with devices that are completely inappropriate are consistently identified by the Dortmund police," it said.
