Secretly leaving WhatsApp group chats will soon be possible – but other updates make the function useless

Leaving group chats on WhatsApp used to be uncomfortable because all other members noticed.

But that will soon be over.

Mountain View - "... left the group" - everyone who is in a WhatsApp group knows this message.

So far, if a member of the group chat decides they no longer want to be part of it, all other chat members will be notified.

This attitude has probably already prevented one or the other from leaving the group from the last birthday party, the WhatsApp group of the graduation year or chatting with old friends who haven't seen in years.

The Facebook subsidiary now wants to make everything more convenient and is probably developing a new function for this.

As the blog "WABetaInfo" reports on Twitter, among others, the software inventors at WhatsApp are working hard to make it easier to leave groups.

In the future, not every single member of the group chat should be informed about the exit, but only the administrator or administrators of the group.

This means that old or useless group chats can simply be left quietly and secretly without causing a stir.

However, it will be a while before everyone can use it, because the update is still in the development phase.

Until then, WhatsApp will already surprise you with a new update.

WhatsApp group chats: list of former participants should be displayed

WhatsApp users, who were already looking forward to the possibility of secretly leaving, now have to put up with a severe setback.

Because, as "WABetaInfo" reports, a beta version of WhatsApp is already being tested, which makes it possible to show former members of a group.

With such a list, there would be no need to secretly leave the group if everyone can see that you were once a member of the group anyway.

According to the WhatsApp blog, this information would also be accessible to all users and not just to the administrators.

After testing the beta version, however, some things about the planned update can change again.
