Too bad

The short cherry season has already begun and it will reach its peak at the end of May, when the trees will be filled with thousands of red, sweet and juicy cherries.

The cherry trees in the Yatir region produce about 50 tons of cherries each year, which, thanks to the ideal field conditions for growing, are known for their wonderful taste and juiciness.

From May 25 to June 3, Yatir Forest will host a self-picking of red and sweet cherries and at the end - the cherry festival in the cherry orchard in Moshav Maon with musicians, actors, a circus show, art workshops, artists and farmers market and of course - cherries and eat as much as you can.

The Golan Heights

From the south - to the north.

The cherry picking is part of the events of the "Golan Heights" festival, which takes place from the end of May in the

Golan (May 31 to July 7) and combines dozens of cultural events, live music performances, guided tours, attractions, self-picking, culinary and nature.

This year, starting in early June, there will be self-harvesting sites in the northern Golan that offer fun activities for the whole family, including: Bustan Bereishit in the Golan, Horse and Cherry Farm, Odem Self-Harvesting, Self-harvesting El Rom, Moti's Orchard, Levy Farm Self-Harvesting Self Neve Ativ and Self Harvest Farm Malul.

Please inform the harvest sites about the exact opening date of the harvest depending on the ripening of the fruit and the amounts of fruit in the area. More information about the harvest sites can be found on the Golan Tourism website at: www.tourgolan.org.il or on Facebook Instagram: "Golan Tourism".

But before you choose where you pick, here is an important tip for cherry pickers:

Morning hours are better for picking, since then the fruit is fresh on the tree / shrub after a night's rest and renewal and it is more pleasant to walk in the orchard when it is still cool, before noon. When there is no load and the harvesting spaces are more free.
