Just over 24 million: this is the total amount of the sums recognized by way of reparation for unjust detention in 2021 by the state.
The exact figure is 24,506,190 and is 12 million less than that paid in 2020. In all, there were 565 compensation orders for those who unjustly ended up in prison before the trial, with an average amount per order of 43,374 euros (in 2020 49,278 euros).
The data are contained in the Annual Report on "Personal precautionary measures and reparation for wrongful detention - 2021" that the Ministry of Justice presented to Parliament.
