"Implied early school leaving, that is, the inability of a 15-year-old boy to understand the meaning of a written text, is 51%. A tragedy, not only for the education system and for economic development, but for the democratic estate of a country. The most affected are students from the poorest families, those living in the south and those with a migratory background ".

Claudio Tesauro, President of Save the Children Italy said this when he opened the work of "Impossible", the four days of reflections and proposals on Childhood and Adolescence.

For Tesauro in Italy there is "a cruel 'generational injustice' because the crisis has hit children. Not only 1,384 thousand children in absolute poverty (the highest figure in the last 15 years) but a child in Italy today is twice as likely to live in absolute poverty compared to an adult, three times more likely than someone over 65 ".

The president of Save The Children also recalled that · "more than two million young people, or 1 in five young people between 15 and 29 years of age, are out of any kind of education, training and work. In six regions, the number of boys and girls Neet has already exceeded the number of boys, of the same age group, entered into the world of work. In Sicily, Campania, Calabria for 2 young employed there are another 3 who are out of work, training and from the study. Data that - he underlined - clash with the demand of the productive world ".
